I am not easy to please when it comes to shoes. If given the task of finding myself my own shoes, I will be going through lots of brands, lots of pairs, will try most. Most of the time, I go out of the store frustrated at not finding the right one for my demanding feet.
Someone once said that I demand lots from things I own that they wear out easily. I told him that things deteriorate, they wear out, and if I bought something that can rise up to my demands, then I will be loyal to that brand.
When it comes to shoes, Figlia definitely rise above the challenge.
I have been known to use rubber shoes because they are durable and can handle my feet pressures of going to places. I walk lots and fast and I need shoes that are comfy and durable. Most of my girly girl shoes of the past have either too high heels (I can only tolerate 1-2 inches) and easily wear out. In malls, I am used to finding shoes that have heels higher than I can comfortably tolerate, wear out easily, or are too heavy.
Here are the things I like about Figlia Shoes.
1. Style
I like Figlia's funky yet professional style. Whenever I visit the shoe store at SM, I check out Figlia shoes and it is like the shoes are dressed up.
Take a look at my brown shoes bought early 2011
Imagine shoes having belts. Sexy.
Before this, the first pair I bought from Figlia is a silver pair which I call my bling bling shoes. Since that is my only pair, the demands of my feet wore it out 6months after purchase. This one was purchased early 2011 with another pair and a pair of rubber shoes which I bring to work (I work as a real estate broker and sometimes work requires me to go to construction sites) --> Looking for properties in Manila and nearby Locations? Check us out (click) Manilasunrealty blogger and on Facebook
2. Comfort
Just like any other shoes, initially my brown shoes gave me foot blisters. However, i found ultra comfort with my cream heels (see below)
This pair is airy, gave me NO blisters at all, and the height of the heels is just right. I am not fond of wearing shoes with heels but the stable heel design, coupled with the comfort, makes me feel good whenever I wear this one. I have used this only on 3 occasions and I love wearing it everytime.
3. Price
Tip for shoes investor, Figlia shoes designs are good at any season, at least for me and I am not a shoe fashionista, and to get the best price possible, wait for the shoes to stay on the rack for at least 6 months and see the price go down.
I once bought a Figlia pair (my first) late 2010 at 1,000+. It was really nice looking, really durable, but I saw the same pair by middle of 2011 and the price was less 25%.
I bought the shoes in the pictures together in early to middle of 2011. Each cost around 300 - 400 pesos. I bought them together for around 800 pesos. I think these are the last of the stock in SM so they lowered the price or maybe Figlia is replenishing their inventory so the old stocks need to go out fast. Nonetheless, I bought these 2 pairs at bargain price and they are my best shoes.
4. Shoes picture on the box makes organizing easy.
I used to buy shoes put in a box which I never tend to organize properly since I have to open and reopen the box to check out which shoes are in it. Figlia packaging solved my problem.
See how their boxes look like:
See. Each box has the picture of the shoes in it. Easy to get the shoes I need specially when pressed for time.
5. Spare for worn out heels.
I just changed my worn out heels today with the heels provided by Figlia.
Here is my worn out heel take out of the brown shoes
I replaced it by taking out the worn out heel using a screw driver. Then put the new on in its place.
The cream shoes do not need heels replacement but I am showing you the shoe and the replacements provided by Figlia
If there is one con though, I find Figlia heels to be sometimes heavy. Specially their flats. However, overall, I think Figlia deserves 4 and a half stars out of 5.

February 2012 -- 17th Hot Air Balloon Festival at Subic, Clark Pampanga
I was thinking of someplace to go when my sister, who has been eyeing this festival some months back, presented me with this opportunity, see the hot air balloons in Subic, Clark on February 9-12. I am not sure yet if I can come, but I REALLY REALLY want to.
Here's what it looks like at the yearly hot air balloon festival

Anyway, looking for details, my sis checked that a ticket to the viewing area costs 200 pesos (4.5 USD estimate). Check it HERE
Researching for more information, i found this site:

It's more fun in the Philippines
Here is the recent Department of Tourism Slogan:
It really is fun in the Philippines. I haven't been to anywhere else so I can't say that it is more fun here than anywhere else. Point is, it really is fun in here.
Just look at this:

Photo and caption by George Tapan
- A rainbow arches over the Philippines' Onuk Island after a rainstorm.
Photographer George Tapan "showed a perfect sense of timing and composition in the way he captured the two small human subjects in this beautiful scene, and that really made the shot," noted judge Tim Laman.
The "very moody, beautifully composed" image, called "Into the Green Zone," compellingly shows a sense of place via the dark clouds, rainbows, the spot of pink amid a palette of blues and greens, and the woman's flowing hair, said judge Amy Toensing.
Peter Essick was also captivated by the detail of the woman's hair. It only "fills a fraction of the picture's real estate, but by capturing the movement at the apex, the photographer has documented a sense of style and flair," he said.
Overall, the picture shows that "small things can sometimes make a big difference." - Photo Location

Nelson Mandela Rocks! 1994 Inaugural Address
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Nelson Mandela
This is what pushes me to be the best I can be. I will let my light shine. Insecures go to hell.

After A While ©1971 Veronica A. Shoffstall
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman,
not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
with every goodbye ,you learn, grow and become a man or woman of wisdom...further , you learn more about the essence of LIFE ...

marshmallow man
Someone gave me a link to this some months back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfmnP2dj3BM
And it was awesome. I feel like the song is tickling my head whenever I listen to it. I don't know what's in it, but it really tickles.
Besides, i like the marshmallow man here so much that whenever I see/meet sweet, soft, round guys, i refer to them as the marshmallow man.
Yeah I am going out of my mind over the marshmallow man.
